In 2016, Valentine’s Day, (how sweet!) Tyler joined the delivery crew and kept on truckin’ for the next 5 years. After that, he stepped away from the wheel and found passion in roasting, which he still does to this day, working the bean factory like a pro.
After years being close up and personal with coffee, is all time favorite Dillanos coffee is Guatemala. He says that it’s consistent, rich, and clean in flavor and has an all-day drinkability quality.

“Tyler is an incredible dad, husband, friend, and coworker. He’s passionate about his work, takes pride in what he does, and is extremely loyal and hardworking. I had the chance to shadow him last year and learned a lot along the way.”

The core values and behavior that resonate the most with Tyler are work hard and have fun. I could go on, but I think it’s best if we let him explain:
“Coming in everyday knowing what needs to be done and getting done efficiently, promptly and with the quality we aim for is something I take pride in. Roasting coffee is my job, but I also have fun doing it. It’s fun because it’s challenging, often unpredictable and there’s a lot of multitasking that keeps me busy and on my toes. Our daily cupping is a lot of fun when we all meet as a department and taste/drink all sorts of coffee, talk about coffee, and shoot the breeze.”
“From yelling GoMs! Across the warehouse to his and my tomfoolery Tyler is a hard worker with lots of drive! He knows how to get the job done and have fun at the same time! When you first meet Tyler, he might come off as shy but once you get to know him, he’s just a dude that loves to eat grapes. Glad to call him my dawg!”
– Chris Porterfield
“Getting to come into work to see Tyler’s straight face and turn it into a smile is one of my favorite things to do in a day! Under that hard shell, he is someone I look up to for his work ethic, loyalty to his friends, and how he is as a parent to the boys and a husband to Brianna.”
– Aspen Ashford
Tyler says that looking back on the decade of work, what sticks around the most to him is things like go karts, bowling, and summer barbeques—as well as the Roasters Guild Retreat in Wisconsin, the Roasting Summit in Seattle, all the Monday Morning Meetings, and the Christmas parties too. All fun aside, Tyler says:
“Being here at Dillanos has really opened the door to the world of coffee for me and helped me discover my passion for it.”
For his milestone day, Tyler and his wife and two boys (die hard Mariners fans) plan to go watch a game.
Cheers to Tyler, for 10 awesome years of doing coffee! Help People, Make Friends, and Tyler’s favorite, HAVE FUN!

“He’s that DUDE! He’s that DAWG!
He’s the guy that’ll make you laugh, the guy that’ll listen when you need, and he’s the guy that’ll be genuinely there! Whether it’s plots to scare you in the back of the truck after route or invite you over for the game, his intentionality is one of a kind! Blessed to call Tyler and brother and a friend… even if he is a pain in my… Haha!”
