The Market
The former Sumner Food Bank has joined forces with the Bonney Lake Food Bank to form a single organization. (The new name and combined website have not rolled out yet.) Not only does this merger save on overhead and costs, but it also gives their customers flexibility to shop in Sumner or Bonney Lake, the kind of flexibility supermarket shoppers enjoy without even thinking about it.
They’re also redoing the facility itself to look elegant and inviting, calling it The Market. As Stacey says (in the video), the goal is for kids shopping with their parents to think they are at a regular store. The goal is to reduce rules and break down barriers for people to get the food and assistance they need with dignity and respect. This should greatly change what it means for a community to support others through what was once known as a food bank. We’re so excited to see these changes happening here in Sumner!
How Can Dillanos Help?
In the month of October, Dillanos will be hosting a food drive to support our community around us. Maybe an inter-department competition? Stay tuned!
As always, it’s important to be living out the “help people” part of our mission. It’s what makes Dillanos who we are.
