Brew Coffee With a French Press

Brew Coffee With a French Press

Recommended Equipment:

  • Grinder
  • 8 tablespoons of freshly ground coffee (56 grams)
  • Scale
  • Timer
  • Wooden Spoon or Bamboo Stir Stick
  • French Press
  • Gooseneck Kettle
  • Mug

Instructions:

  • Measure 56 grams (8 tbsp) of freshly ground coffee and add French Press

  • Heat water to 195-205°F (or boil and let it cool for 1:30 minutes)

  • Add water to French Press and stir coffee and water together with a wooden spoon or bamboo stir stick, making sure to break a part any clumps

  • Place the plunger on the surface of the coffee and let brew for 4 minutes

  • After 4 minutes, slowly push the press down until it makes contact with the grounds.

  • Serve!

TIP!Once the coffee has brewed and pressed, transfer into a separate container to avoid over extraction or “over brewing” the coffee. If you don’t transfer it out of the French Press, too much coffee will dissolve and cause the rest of it to taste bitter.
